Funky’s Catering Events popular Wine Dinners return on January 12, 6 p.m. with an American wine dinner series begins in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The intimate dinners are hosted in the kitchen and dining room at The Transept in Over-the-Rhine on Elm Street adjacent to Memorial Hall and Music Hall.
A new private label Maker’s Mark bourbon hand selected in August by, among others, Britney Ruby Miller, president of Jeff Ruby Culinary Entertainment, and mixologist Molly Wellmann at the Maker’s Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, will be unveiled on Friday, November 30, 10 a.m. to noon, at Jungle Jim’s Fairfield, 5440 Dixie Highway.

Having just returned for a weekend in Wine Country, I can tell you first hand the direct impact of the wild fires that displaced thousands of residents through Northern California a few weeks ago. But this resilient wine and hospitality community is back open for business and wanted us to tell everyone when we returned to Cincinnati.

Hotel hopping and lobby gazing is a sport at Cannes. The paparazzi are not allowed in most hotels but we found most hotel security is lenient with iPhones and smaller cameras to capture the entrance and departure of celebrities. While we didn’t see any actual celebrities, it was a fun afternoon of people watching.
