Santa Barbara Wine Maker visits Cincinnati for Hart & Cru Event, February 7

HART & CRU welcomes Peter Stolpman to Cincinnati on February 7, 6 p.m. at Rhinegeist, 1910 Elm Street in OTR, for a casual talk about the passion for the estate located in Ballard Canyon AVA of Santa Barbara County. The tasting will feature eight wines and snacks provided by Dutch’s Larder. Cost per person is $30 and registration is now available.

Stolpman's focus is on Syrah and Roussane as well as a few other varietals. Peter Stolpman has been leading the family estate since 2009 and has turned into a great friend of HART & CRU over the last few years. During this event, you will hear the stories about the property and understand the love we have for the wines.

Stolpman Vineyards lies on a coastal limestone outcropping in the Ballard Canyon AVA of Santa Barbara County. The winery is known for Syrahs that combine fresh liveliness with depth and richness.  On the white wine side, Stolpman has gained a world-wide following for its Roussanne. The vineyard's Southern Latitude and arid climate allows for an extended hang-time late into fall, at which point only "Rousse" or rust colored grapes are meticulously hand-harvested for the Stolpman Roussanne. All wines are fermented natively without sulfur, and a special fruit purity sings across the lineup.

Pete Stolpman has led Stolpman Vineyards since 2009 and has served as the President of Ballard Canyon Winegrowers Alliance since the AVA was approved in 2013.  Prior to taking over the family operation, he worked in the wholesale side of the business at Henry Wine Group and the winemaking side in Barossa Valley and Chianti Classico.

Today, Pete focuses on experimentation in both the vineyard and winery.  Pete believes his new own-rooted, high-density Syrah and Mourvedre vineyards will once again redefine the quality threshold at Stolpman.

Outside of the Stolpman label, Pete and Rajat Parr bottle estate grown Trousseau, Trousseau Pet’Nat, and Chenin Blanc under the Combe Label.  Pete also partners with Ruben and Maria Solorzano to make fresh and lively wines called Para Maria.
