“Waitress” now playing at Aronoff

From the 2007 big screen production to the stage, “Waitress” tells the story of Jenna, who is a waitress at a small town diner whose pie making is legendary. While she dreams up creative names for her pies (27 in all mentioned in the show, including “Marshmallow Mermaid” and “A Little Wild, Wild Berry”), she dreams of a better life that doesn’t include her husband.

Grammy® nominee Sara Bareilles wrote the original music and lyrics (and just now is returning to Broadway in the title role) replacing University of Cincinnati CCM alum Betsy Wolfe, who joined the cast in June and who graces the cover of the show’s Playbill.

Nominated for four Tony awards, including best musical, “Waitress” does not disappoint. “Waitress” runs through January 21 at the Aronoff Center downtown.
