2018 Cincinnati Comic Expo set for September 14-16
The 2018 Cincinnati Comic Expo will return to the Duke Energy Convention Center from September 14-16 celebrating the best in comic books, fantasy, cosplay, pop culture, and more.
The Cincinnati Comic Expo has grown to become the Queen City’s premier comic convention since its debut in 2010, bringing together popular artists, publishers, actors, writers, cosplayers and fans from around the world.
Nearly 20 guests from film and television will be coming to the Cincinnati including “Game of Thrones” star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The Danish actor plays Jaime Lannister in the hit HBO series, which will return for its eighth season in 2019. Coster-Waldau will be at the 2018 Cincinnati Comic Expo Friday, Saturday and Sunday, serving on a panel discussion Friday night.
Joining Coster-Waldau are two big names from the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Clark Gregg and Benedict Wong. Gregg, best known for the role of Agent Phil Coulson, will be hosting a panel Saturday afternoon. Wong, known for playing Wong, a Master of Mystic Arts, in “Doctor Strange,” will be at the Cincinnati Comic Expo Saturday and Sunday, appearing on a panel Saturday night.
Sunday will feature five spotlight panels including one with Peter Mayhew, best known for playing the legendary Wookiee warrior Chewbacca in the Star Wars film series, and another with Manu Bennett, who is known for his roles in “The Hobbit,” “Arrow,” and “Spartacus.”
The Cincinnati Comic Expo also features panels and workshops on cosplay, sketch duels, movies and TV shows, games, and comic books.
The 2018 Cincinnati Comic Expo will be held from Sept. 14, through Sept. 16, at the Duke Energy Convention Center. Tickets prices vary and are available for purchase online. More information and detailed schedule with all events can be found at CincinnatiComicExpo.com.

Geek Prom presents The Midwest Muggle Fest on Saturday, September 15 from 7:30 p.m.-12 a.m. in the third floor Junior Ballroom. This “Harry Potter” themed evening includes dancing and fun Muggle activities. Come dressed for prom or in your best Madam Malkin’s robe. The three-course dinner to be served for The Great Hall participants is already sold out.Tickets to The Midwest Muggle Fest are $30.
Ninth Annual Costume Contest
The Costume Contest is back and looking for the best costumes of the Expo. Join hundreds of enthusiastic characters with their best threads on to see who has the best guise. All attendees wishing to participate will need to be in the Queen City Panel Room Saturday, September 15 at 6 p.m. Categories include Youth, Novice, Journeyman, Master, Group, and Prop.
Star Wars Fan Zone
The Star Wars Fan Zone is the Midwest’s largest fan-run “Star Wars” only section ran by Ohio 501st, Mandalorian Mercs, Rebel Legion, and Ohio Star Wars Collector Club. With more than 100 “Star Wars” cosplayers expected to attend the fan zone, guests can take photos with the different exhibits like the replica Detention Block AA-23, climb aboard a 74-Z speeder bike, or try flying an X-Wing through Cincinnati Comic Expo’s exclusive Death Star Trench Run.
The Blood Drive by the Hoxworth Blood Center at the University of Cincinnati will be Friday, September 14-16 in Duke Energy Convention Center Exhibit Hall C. All Donors will have the opportunity to select from comic books, enamel pins, or figurines for donating their blood while supplies last.
