The Banks to host Cincinnati’s Official 2019 Women’s World Cup Viewing Village presented by FOX 19 Now

The Banks riverfront entertainment district today announced the street closure dates for the 2019 Women’s World Cup Village presented by Fox 19 Now, a series of street parties and soccer watching venues designed as the official Cincinnati gathering place for the sporting spectacle.

The event is sponsored by Fox19 Now, Skyline Chili, Graeter’s Ice Cream, the Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Sports Leagues. The event is hosted by the Banks Riverfront Entertainment District and all the retailers and businesses that make up the Banks district.

This is year two of World Cup Village at the Banks. Last year, nearly 10,000 people turned out to watch the men’s World Cup at six different street parties over the course of a month in the summer.

This year culminates with the women’s World Cup from France, where the US Women’s National Team will be the heavy favorite to win it all.

The first games and street parties are scheduled as follows:

  • Tuesday, June 11 - US vs Thailand @ 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. (kickoff at 3 p.m.)

  • Sunday, June 16 - US vs. Chile @ 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (kickoff at NOON and Reds home vs. Texas, 1:10PM)

  • Thursday, June 20 - US vs. Sweden @ 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. (kickoff at 3 p.m.)

Additional times and dates will be confirmed once the group play commences and the knockout round dates are scheduled.

The month-long celebration at the Banks will include multiple different street parties, where Freedom Way will be closed between Great American Ball Park and Vine Street. All US Women’s National Team matches will be shown on the giant video screen hanging from the ballpark. Beer, wine and soft drink will be available for purchase along with food from all the bars and retailers at the Banks.

In between the street parties, fans and rooting groups are encouraged to gather at the Banks host bars, who will be showing almost all the action from the Women’s World Cup and offering specials throughout the month.

Partnering once again with the event are the Cincinnati Reds. In addition to providing the video wall on the side of the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum, the Reds will also hand out a limited number of special edition Reds soccer t-shirts at the street parties with the purchase of a ticket voucher package.

Skyline Chili will furnish the victory celebration in the form of free coneys for 150 lucky fans each time the United States wraps up a victory. Graeter’s will serve their world-famous small batch ice cream from their scoop truck which will be parked right on Freedom Way for each event.

The family-friendly events will feature free kids’ soccer exhibitions hosted by Kings Hammer on one of the giant inflatable soccer fields provided by Cincinnati Sports Leagues, which will be situated in the street between the SkyWheel and the Underground Railroad Freedom Center.

Cincinnati Sports Leagues will host an all-day adult 3-on-3 soccer tournament on Sunday, June 20. To register a team, please visit:
