Author of Arthur Ashe: A Life at Mercantile Library next Thursday

Author and Civil Rights Historian Raymond Arsenault will appear at the Mercantile Library on Thursday, Oct. 25, 6 p.m. to discuss his highly acclaimed biography, Arthur Ashe: A Life, of tennis great Arthur Ashe. In this masterful biography, Arsenault shows how Ashe paved the way for other athletes, leaders, and activists and left behind a legacy of dignity, integrity, and active citizenship.

Friday’s Queen Bee Half Expo, free and open to the public

The fifth anniversary running of the Queen Bee Half, the female-focused half marathon and four-mile race, will go off on Saturday morning with a sold-out field for both races. On Friday, the Queen Bee Expo at Duke Energy Convention Center is free and open to the public featuring more than 50 health and fitness displays and retailers along with Queen Bee merchandise.
