DAV 5K to honor veterans on Saturday with run, walk, roll and ride
DAV (Disabled American Veterans) announced today the event lineup and activities for the DAV 5K, an inclusive event to honor and raise money for veterans where participants can run, walk, roll or even ride motorcycles across the course.
Registration is still open for the event through the time of the start: 9 a.m. this Saturday, November 10 at Sawyer Point near downtown Cincinnati. All veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard, and ROTC or service academy cadets are eligible for free registration and a commemorative medal.
Registration costs are $30 for adults and $15 for youth 6–15 and include an event shirt and race bib. The DAV 5K is open to individual runners, walkers, wheelchair riders, hand cyclists and motorcyclists as well as groups who wish to form a team.
Registration for all events is now open at www.DAV5K.org.
The race is part of the 2018 DAV 5K National Race Series, which showcases six races being held across the country over an eight-day span in the following host cities: Atlanta; Boston; Cincinnati; Kemah, Texas; Newport News, Virginia; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. The DAV 5K thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues our ill and injured veterans face every day.
“We are pleased to bring the DAV 5K Run to Honor Veterans to six cities this year,” said DAV National Adjutant and CEO Marc Burgess. “Through these events, we are able to bring more attention to the issues facing our veterans and make them aware of the services we offer at no cost. Ultimately, that helps us serve more veterans and their families.”
Each race market has a number of local partners and sponsors that support the event. USAA is the National Race Series Sponsor and Cintas serves as the National Honor Bib Sponsor.
