Flying Pig Marathon Executive Director Named Running USA Board President
Iris Simpson Bush, the executive director of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon powered by P&G, is the new president of the board of Running USA, a not-for-profit organization devoted to improving the status and experience of distance running and racing in the United States. She was chosen during Running USA’s summer board meeting this week in Detroit.
She has been involved in the Flying Pig Marathon since its inception in various roles, becoming the event’s executive director in 2002. Most recently she oversaw the 20th anniversary celebration of Flying Pig weekend with more than 40,000 participants, a double-digit increase from the previous year.
In 2017 she was named MarathonFoto/Road Race Management Race Director of the Year and
in February was named to the Running USA Hall of Champions, a prestigious group of industry leading honorees who have served the sport with distinction. Her term runs through June 2019.
“It has been my honor and privilege to serve with this group of professionals who are working to support and grow the road race industry in the United States,” said Bush. “Anything I have been able to contribute to our industry has come back to me in great measure and I appreciate the confidence placed in me with this position. I look forward to being a part of Running USA's on-going mission.”
