Summerfair Select Exhibit at the Weston Gallery opens April 8


Summerfair Cincinnati, one of the oldest continuous art fairs in the country, continues its 50th anniversary celebration in 2017 with their Triennial event “Summerfair Select: An Exhibition of Aid to Individual Artists (AIA) Winners 2014-2016.”

The AIA Award is the area’s first program designed to distribute funds to individual artists. The $3,000 award can be used to fund research, assist in the creation of new works or for the purchase of supplies and material for production.

The triennial exhibition will be held at the Weston Art Gallery at the Aronoff Center for the Arts from April 8 through April 23. 

The artists who have received the AIA award over the last three years and who will exhibit at Summerfair Select exhibition include: Andrew Au, printmaking, sculpture, animation; Sara Caswell-Pearce, collage, printer and graphic designer; Lisa Hueil Conner, clay; Guy Michael Davis & Katie Parker, ceramics; Cindy Hamman, pastel; Emily Moores, multimedia; Kevin Muente, landscape; Dana Saulnier, painter; Christian Schmit, multimedia; John Sousa, photography; Tina Tammaro, painter; and Dan Vance, painter.

The Poster Exhibition brings together all 40 winning posters since the annual competition began in 1977. Info from the artists will be on display to tell how this prestigious award enhanced their careers. Other historic memorabilia will be featured. 

Gallery hours for the Weston Art Gallery are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
