Over the last 10 weeks, seven local businesses have worked with mentors to hone their business plan and pitch to culminate in the ArtWork’s Big Pitch presented by U.S. Bank where each had five minutes to pitch their product to a sold out crowd at Memorial Hall and five judges last Thursday evening.

Ohio Valley Beard Supply, which makes products for beard maintenance including moisturizer, finishing balms, mustache wax, washes and conditioners, won the 2017 Big Pitch and a $15,000 Judge’s Choice cash prize while Brookes & Hyde, a Cincinnati-based accessory brand crafting fine leather goods business, won the $5,000 Audience Choice cash prize.

The mentor team for Ohio Valley Beard Supply was U.S. Bank’s Reuben Johnson and Matt Madison from Madisono’s Gelato while U.S. Bank’s Allison Pape and Django Kroner from the Canopy Crew supported Brookes & Hyde.

“Winning the Big Pitch and the cash prize of $15,000 will help us build a national brand and reach as many beards as humanly possible,” said Patrick Brown, co-founder of Ohio Valley Beard Supply.

“The Big Pitch celebrates the small business community in Cincinnati and U.S. Bank is proud to be a supporter of the event,” said Erin Phillips, U.S. Bank Business Marketing Manager. “We applaud all seven businesses who successfully completed the Big Pitch and wish them continued success.”
