Sounds Good

You could make the argument – and many have – that Cincinnati deserves to be called the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll. Rather than go a few rounds on that one, we can all agree that the region’s music roots run deep, from Hank Williams to Wussy and King Records to The National. As a crossroads of commerce and culture, Cincinnati has shaped the sounds of America.

From the swing of jazz and the homegrown twang of bluegrass to the energy of indie rock, the music at America’s River Roots spans genres, geography, and generations. Cincinnati legends Over the Rhine kick off the music with a performance on Thursday at Yeatman’s Cove. Throughout the weekend you can catch performances by America's Got Talent breakout stars Chapel Hart, local heavyweights Cincinnati Jazz All-Stars and CSO Poptet, and Ohio funk favorites, Zapp Band.

With four stages of FREE music located at the Public Landing, Schmidlapp Event Lawn, Yeatman’s Cove in Cincinnati and Riverboat Row in Newport, along with regional favorites on riverboat cruises from great music cities including Memphis and New Orleans, fans can hear the soul of the river.
