Feeling Saucy
Have you ever loved a condiment so much you thought it should have its own holiday?
Frisch’s Big Boy can relate.
As millions around the world prepare for the fun of Mardi Gras and Carnevale on Feb. 17, local Frisch’s restaurants are gearing up for National Tartar Sauce Day on Friday, Feb. 20
Founded nine years ago by Frisch's Big Boy in Cincinnati, National Tartar Sauce Day honors Frisch's iconic fish sandwich, made with two sustainably sourced Alaskan cod filets and the restaurant’s Original Tartar Sauce.
But this year’s celebration comes with national recognition. Frisch’s fish sandwich was recently highlighted by Mashed as one of the best fish sandwiches in the country, earning praise for quality and consistency.
Frisch’s fish offerings are a Friday night staple during Lent, with guests enjoying Fish ’N Chips, the Alaskan Cod Sandwich, and other seafood favorites – all paired with the signature tartar sauce that inspired a national food holiday. Families can continue a Lenten tradition with Frisch’s Friday Night Fish Fry with an unlimited seafood bar with soup, salad, and sides at participating locations. Frisch’s also offers popular meatless options during Lent, including Vegetable Soup, Grilled Cheese, and Mac and Cheese.
Frisch’s continues to serve communities across the region through 31 locally owned and operated restaurants, reinforcing its deep local roots. Almost everyone in Cincinnati is less than 20 minutes from a Frisch’s, making it easy to enjoy a hometown favorite during Lent and beyond.
