Blessings in Disguise

Every great party starts at Cappel’s, whether you’re looking for an Oktoberfest tablecloth, Christmas ornaments, a wedding guest book, or cocktail napkins in a very specific color. This time of year, it’s the best place to go for Halloween costumes, accessories, or inspiration.

Opened as Cappel Display Company in 1945, the store opened by William Cappel sold display fixtures to downtown’s booming department stores. After WWII ended, his brother, Cappel, joined him in the family business. Over the years customers made frequent trips to Cappel’s, especially at Christmas time. Eventually retail became the primary focus, with costumes were introduced into the product mix on a seasonal basis in the 1980s.

Ray began working with his father, William, when he was still a young boy and has more than 50 years experience in the retail industry. In 1990, Ray and his cousin, Rich, bought Cappel’s Display, officially changing the name to Cappel’s Inc. The cousins successfully adapted to the changing party needs of the community. Today, Ray and his wife, Stef, continue to run the family business.

Today, Cappel’s has an inventory of 50,000 items, with an incredible selection of costumes, costume accessories, party decorations, novelties,, and many hard to find products.

The Costume Annex is at 917 Race St., open Monday through Satruday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, 12 to 5 p.m. The party supply store is at 920 Elm St. Cappel’s also has locations in Anderson and Blue Ash. Find all the details at www.cappelsinc.com.
